Sahaj Seva Trust
Origin of Trust…
Few people from different walks of life come together spontaneously to generate remarkable services for socia1 causes
Like its name Sahaj means Effortless.. Casual and Seva means Service. That’s ‘Sahajseva‘.
The intention of Sahajseva Trust lies in the attitude of service. A few days in a year, some time from life, to donate some time for social service and unique new projects, hand in hand, without much pomp, without holding lofty goals- undertaking small projects and completing them with sincerity and persistence. This persistence is where the journey of Sahajseva began.
LANGAR (FREE MEAL) AT JOTIBA
In 2001, with the intention of feeding hygienic meals to thousands of devotees who come to the yatra in the month of ‘Chaitra’ Langar/ Annachatra was started. This Langar lasting four days, round the clock became popular and was widely appreciated. Since 2001 every year Langar has received tremendous support and positive feedback. In 2004 one lakh devotees have taken advantage of the Langar.
‘Jotiba’ is a holy place North of Kolhapur, Maharashtra on the hilly Sahyadris, where 5 lakh devotees gather on Chaitra Poonam day. Most devotees come from poor background and as far away as 250 kilometers
The huge pandal at the ‘Gayamukh’ area of Jotiba, clean stainless steel plates, hygienic food, selfless volunteers and the zealous cooperation of the community have proved to be an excellent example of social service in Maharashtra. What proved to be significant during this project was organization, a competent plan, cooperation from the community and persistence.
All this needs 2 month preparation time.. 10 tons Rice.. 1.5 ton toor dal.. 2.5 tons Rawa.. One truck load of vegetables.. 4000 litres of milk.. 200 kg tea.. 5 ton sugar.. 1 ton chana dal.. 150 cans of oil.. all this endeavor to serve devotees, Sahajseva continuously strives to accomplish their goal of providing food for devotees at Jotiba.
During the Jotiba yatra, along with Langar, Sahajseva trust also organizes a blood donation camp to raise awareness about blood donation.
The Sahajseva Trust invests its surplus cash in planting trees at the Jotiba area, building tree guards, watering plants thus maintaining a 99% survival rate. The intention of these trees is to provide shade for the devotees in the future. So far 400 trees have been planted.
